Daytime Emmy Award winning actress, Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo is a natural beauty endowed with talent and versatility. Since her debut as `Brenda Barrett’ on General Hospital, Vanessa has had an enormous impact in daytime television. She left in 1998 and returned in 2002 with the show’s ratings skyrocketing to number one. Wanting to return to honor her roots, she returned to General Hospital in 2010 to reprise the role of ‘Brenda Barrett’.

Fueled by the high ratings during her first return to General Hospital, NBC president Jeff Zucker, sought a series with a role for Marcil Giovinazzo in mind. She landed the role of Sam Marquez on the NBC drama Las Vegas. Other primetime appearances include: NYPD Blue,Spin City, ABC/Steven Spielberg’s series High Incident, Without a Trace and Lipstick Jungle.

Marcil Giovinazzo displays her thespian versatility in feature films as well. She made her film debut in Hollywood Pictures’ blockbuster The Rock as Nicolas Cage’s love interest. She also co-starred in the independent films The Space Between Us with Jeremy Sisto and Nice Guys Sleep Alone with Sean O’Bryan. Marcil Giovinazzo’s role in the Lifetime Movie One Hot Summer helped garner the movie a nomination for an Imagen Award for Outstanding Primetime TV or Movie of the Week. She also received critical acclaim for her performance in Southern Rapture, directed by Academy Award-winner Peter Fonda and co-starring country singer/actor Dwight Yoakum and Golden Globe Winner Sally Kirkland. The play took center stage at the prestigious Met Theatre in Los Angeles.

She received numerous Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress, and winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama in 2003 and has been included in People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People” issue, and TV Guide described her as “an incomparable actress with a flawless face.”

Marcil Giovinazzo currently resides in Los Angeles. Amidst her hectic schedule, she finds time to work closely with Sojourn Services for Battered Women and Their Children where she has been honored for her support and service to the organization. Also, she participates in programs assisting those who have been affected by drug and alcohol abuse.
